Vendor Rules and Code of Conduct

** Anyone violating rules or regulations may be banned from future events.

  1. All sellers must act in a courteous and professional manner while participating in this event.
  2. Sellers may only set up on the designated parking lot on the date and during the time authorized by the Alexandria Jaycees. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the seller being barred permanently from future Community Yard Sales, as well as facing potential legal action by the property owners and/or the Alexandria Jaycees, Inc.
  3. Sellers should not arrive before 5:45 am. Sales may not commence before 7:00 am on the day of the sales and must be completed by 1:30 p.m.
  4. All trash and unsold items must be removed from the property by the seller no later than 2:00pm on the day of the yard sale. Vendor spaces must be swept clean. Failure to do this will result in a clean up fee of $25, and possible banishment from future Community Yard Sales.
  5. Sellers may not park their vehicles within the sale area during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Over-sized vehicles must park in the lot off Kingstowne Commons Drive.
  6. The Alexandria Jaycees reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to deny participation in, and access to, the Community Yard Sale to any individual with or without reason.
  7. To the extent possible, sellers may select a space of their choice within the sale site. Spaces will be available on a first come, first served basis. However, the Alexandria Jaycees reserve the right to assign all spaces and to relocate sellers if required. Sellers can only sell from the actual space rented.
  8. ALL correspondence (oral or written) concerning participation in the Community Yard Sale must be directed to the Alexandria Jaycees via the 24-hour event line, 703-866-7171, e-mail yardsale@alexjaycees.org, or US mail: P.O. Box 1836, Alexandria, VA 22313.
  9. Only authorized members of the Alexandria Jaycees may act as agents of the Alexandria Jaycees. Use of the Alexandria Jaycees name and/or reputation by any individual or organization not expressly authorized by the Alexandria Jaycees is strictly forbidden.
  10. Sellers are responsible for reporting and paying any applicable sales tax to the appropriate state and/or local jurisdictions.
  11. Vendors may not sell food or beverage items.
  12. Trash MAY NOT be disposed of in the restroom, dumpsters are available behind the school.

NOTE: It is extremely important that you haul away your trash and unsold items after the event, as the Jaycees have no any means to dispose of your items. Failure to follow this rule will result in a clean-up fee equal to the cost of renting a truck if necessary; or $25 if a truck is not required.
