Vendor Rules & Code of Conduct:

** Anyone violating rules or regulations may be banned from future events.

  1. All sellers must act in a courteous and professional manner while participating in this event.
  2. Sellers may only set up on the designated parking lot on the date and during the time authorized by the Alexandria Jaycees. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the seller being barred permanently from future Community Yard Sales, as well as facing potential legal action by the property owners and/or the Alexandria Jaycees, Inc.
  3. Sellers should not arrive before 5:45 am. Sales may not commence before 7:00 am on the day of the sales and must be completed by 1:30pm.
  4. All trash and unsold items must be removed from the property by the seller no later than 2:00pm on the day of the yard sale. Failure to do this will result in a clean up fee of $25, and possible banishment from future Community Yard Sales.
  5. Sellers may not park their vehicles within the sale area during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
  6. The Alexandria Jaycees reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to deny participation in, and access to, the Community Yard Sale to any individual with or without reason.
  7. To the extent possible, sellers may select a space of their choice within the sale site. Spaces will be available on a first come, first served basis. However, the Alexandria Jaycees reserve the right to assign all spaces and to relocate sellers if required. Sellers can only sell from the actual space rented.
  8. ALL correspondence (oral or written) concerning participation in the Community Yard Sale must be directed to the Alexandria Jaycees via the 24-hour event line, 703-866-7171, e-mail yardsale@alexjaycees.org, or US mail: P.O. Box 1836, Alexandria, VA 22313.

  10. Sellers are responsible for reporting and paying any applicable sales tax to the appropriate state and/or local jurisdictions.
  11. Vendors may not sell food or beverage items.

NOTE: It is extremely important that you haul away your trash and unsold items after the event, as the Jaycees have no trucks to dispose of your items. Failure to follow this rule will result in a clean-up fee equal to the cost of renting a truck if necessary; or $25 if a truck is not required.

Pre-Registration
  • Why should I pre-register? Pre-registering for the yard sale lets us know that you are planning to attend the yard sale and helps us collect the information in advance we need from you to speed registration on the day of the sale. Remember that all spaces are first come, first served. Overflow space on the surrounding sidewalks and grass areas may be used at the discretion of the Alexandria Jaycees once all the parking spots are taken. A space is held for you until 7:00 AM. Vendors arriving after 7:00 AM may not be able to participate in the sale depending on space availability and will be unable to unload in the sale lot to unload because all vehicles must be removed from the sale lot by 7:00 AM.
  • Can I reserve a specific spot for the yard sale? Registering for the yard sale will NOT reserve a specific spot for the yard sale. So if you would like a specific location for the sale on the day of the event it is highly recommended that you come to the yard sale early and pick out the spot that you prefer.
  • Are there spots that are off limits to vendors? Yes there are spots that are essentially "off-limits." For example, the Jaycees have a tent set up at the front of the lot answer questions from buyers and vendors. The Jaycees sell refreshments at that location too throughout the sale including drinks and a variety of snacks. Waterfront Weenies will also offer a wide variety of hot dogs for purchase. In addition there may be other spots deemed off limits by the Jaycees on a sale date to accommodate requests through the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • When should I pay? Pay in person on the day of the sale.
  • How will I know if a yardsale has been postponed/rescheduled/cancelled? Those who pre-register and provide a valid email address will be notified in the event a sale will not take place. Otherwise, a notice will be placed on the event line at 703-866-7171.
